Technical info on motor yacht 'spica primero'

Spica Primero

Spica Primero

‘Spica Primero’ is a 24m Hatteras motor yacht. She was built in America and originally delivered and commissioned in the UK in 1989. This impressive classic motor yacht with her unusual cream colour, has just had a complete cosmetic makeover and extensive works to bring her up to charter standards, having last been in charter over 20 years ago. She is currently in the Mediterranean, based on the beautiful island of Corfu in Greece.

Water Sports

Spica Primero

Zodiac Tender / Sports Boat

Get your adrenaline pumping with our water sports activities. On board we are able to offer wakeboarding, water skiing and a towable donut, using our new Zodiac 420 Open RIB with Mercury 50hp outboard. We also have 6 x stand up paddle boards, an inflatable 2 man kayak, snorkelling equipment and stackable stunt kites for when the wind picks up. The boat also carries a very special strip wood canoe that is privately owned by the captain (although he does very occasionally lend it out......).

If we don't carry something on board that you would like to try, then we will attempt to make that happen for you..

We are also able to organise 'Padi Approved Diving Trips', the hire of jet skis and

for the land lovers amongst you, how about hiring bicycles and exploring.

Our experienced crew will organise everything for you and ensure you have a fun and safe time.

Engine Room

Spica is incredibly well appointed and that includes in the engineering department, She actually boasts 2 engine rooms, a full height walk around engine room amidships which houses the 2 x Detroit 12v71Ti main engines (14 litre V-12 2-Stroke diesel engines producing up to 870HP each), along with the hydraulic steering, bow thruster system, water maker, hot water and battery systems.

A secondary half height generator room, further forward, houses the 2 x 20kva Onan generators along with the air conditioning units and air compressor etc.

Fuel Consumption

High speed wake from our Zodiac Open 4.2 RIB tender

Main engines - Approx. 100 litres per hour at her cruising speed of 10-12 Knots. She is capable of a top speed of about 19 Knots

Generators - Each generator uses approx. 8 litres per hour - we don't normally need both generators running at the same time, except under extreme conditions and we do shut them down when they aren't needed. We also try and shut them down at night and rely on our new solar battery backup system to provide enough power for fans, chargers and the Fridges, etc, this helps keep the anchorages quiet and is our small contribution towards being just a little bit greener.

We are lucky enough to have a stabiliser system onboard that reduces the sideways motion of the swell while underway, making for comfortable transits between anchorages in choppy water.

Southampton International Boat Show

We will have completed a major cosmetic refit for the 2025 season and there will be a new external colour scheme with her in cream, grey and black. We are also working on a longer term program for some of the major systems on board inc. power production, solar arrays, battery storage, zero speed stabilisers (stabilisation at anchor), more efficient air conditioning and of course more water toys - seabobs, swim platform extension, water slide, etc. We are always very happy to chat about our upgrade program in more detail with anyone that is interested.
